About us

What We Believe

Hope City was created to help you experience the transformative power of faith in a welcoming community. We truly believe the whole world should know the truth about who Jesus really is.

our foundation

The Essentials

Holy Bible

We believe that the Bible is perfectly true.
(II Timothy 3:16 / II Peter 1:20-21 / Proverbs 30:5 / Romans 16:25-26)

Trinity

We believe in the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
(I John 5:7 / Genesis 1:26 / Matthew 3:16-17 / Luke 1:35 / Isaiah 9:6 / Hebrews 3:7-11)

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus is God's Son, born of a virgin, crucified, and risen from the dead.
(John 1:1, 14, 20:28 / Luke 1:35 / I Timothy 3:16 / Isaiah 9:6 / Philippians 2:5-6)

Water Baptism

We believe in water baptism by immersion.
(Matthew 28:19 / Acts 2:38, 8:26-38 / I Peter 3:20-21)

Heaven

Heaven is the eternal dwelling place for all believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 5:3, 12, 20, 6:20, 19:21, 25:34 / John 17:24 / II Corinthians 5:1 / Hebrews 11:16 / I Peter 1:4)

Hell

After living one life on earth, the unbelievers will be judged by God and sent to Hell where they will be eternally tormented with the Devil and the fallen angels.
(Matthew 25:41 / Mark 9:43-48 / Hebrews 9:27 / Revelation 14:9-11, 20:12-15, 21:8)

Healing

We believe in divine healing.
(Acts 3:16 / James 5:15-16 / I Peter 2:24)

Communion

We believe in taking Communion to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 26:26-28 / 1 Corinthians 11:24-28)

The Church

The church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of Jesus' Great Commission. Every person who is born of the Spirit is an integral part of the church as a member of the body of believers. There is a spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Ephesians 1:22, 2:19-22 / Hebrews 12:23 / John 17:11, 20-23)

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost and dwells in every believer. It is the promise of the Father, sent by Jesus after His Ascension, to empower the Church to preach the Gospel throughout the whole earth. Evidences of the baptism of the Holy Spirit include boldness to witness, fruit of the Spirit, and speaking in other tongues.
(Joel 2:28-29 / Matthew 3:11 / Mark 16:17 / Acts 1:5, 2:1-4, 17, 28-39, 8:14-17, 10:38, 44-47, 11:15-17 / Galatians 5:22-23)

Salvation

We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. Salvation is a gift from God, and because of sin, every person is in need of salvation. When we accept salvation, we are born again by the power of the Holy Spirit.
(John 3:3-18 / Acts 16:31 / Romans 10:9-10 / Galatians 2:16, 3:8 / Ephesians 2:8-9 / Titus 3:5)

Second Coming

We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years. This will occur at a date undisclosed by the Scriptures.
(Matthew 24:30, 26:63-64 / Acts 1:9-11 / I Thessalonians 4:15-17 / II Thessalonians 1:7-8 / Revelation 1:7)

Common Questions

What are the core beliefs of your church?
We believe that a relationship with God is the only thing that can give our life meaning and purpose.  The only way to have a relationship with God is through His son Jesus.  We believe that the Bible is perfectly true and useful in our day-to-day lives.
What is the style of worship like?
We love to worship together as a church.  We believe that God is worthy of all our praise and worship.  On a typical Sunday morning you’ll see guitars, drums, and keyboards on the stage.  You’re likely to see people clapping, raising their hands, and expressing their sincere gratitude and love for God.
What programs and ministries do you offer?
At Hope City Church we are passionate about connection.  We offer places for everyone to connect through our HC Kids on Sunday morning, HC Youth for middle and high school students, and Connect Groups for the adults.  We want you to connect and find a community of people who love you.
How do you handle baptism and communion?
We celebrate both baptism and communion.  When someone surrenders their life to Jesus, the very first thing He has told us to do it be baptized.  At HCC be practice full-submersion baptism because that’s what we see in the Bible.
We practice communion on the first Sunday of every month.  We believe in an open communion, so you don’t need to be a member of HCC to participate, but we do ask that you be a member of the family of God.
What is your stance on social and cultural issues?
Our priority is people.  We always look to the Bible for answers on social and cultural issues.  The Bible is awesome at giving clear, kind, and honest responses to some of life’s biggest questions.
How can I get involved or connect with others in the church?
At HCC we have developed a path to make connection easy for all of us.  Our prayer is that simply showing up to church on a Sunday morning will allow you to EXPERIENCE God and His people.  Once you’ve gotten that far, then we want to help you DISCOVER your purpose.  God created each one of us for a reason, and we want to help you figure that out.  We also want you to CONNECT with other people in the same stage of life through Connect Groups. Some of these may be deeply spiritual groups, others may share a common hobby, and another will help you get started in your journey with God.  No matter where you are in life, we want you to CONNECT.  Finally, you can ENGAGE in the mission and ministry of Jesus through Hope City Church by joining one of our serving teams.  We want you to thrive as you find joy and purpose in serving others.
Is there a chance to ask questions or receive prayer during or after the service?
Questions are always welcome.  Our pastoral team is usually in the lobby before and after service, and they are all happy to help you.  If it requires more time than that allows, let’s set up a time to meet during the week.

Our services also have a prayer time.  HCC has a dedicated team of people who pray for you all week long!  During the music portion of service there is a time that they are available to pray with you for your specific need.
